A Weekend in Austin, but Made Cinematic

This 30-second video combines the soulful track "Can I Call You Rose" by Thee Sacred Souls, a popular audio on various platforms, with a carefully curated collection of clips that flow in sync with the rhythm of the beat. The aim was to capture the essence of Austin—its diverse landscapes, vibrant lifestyles, and unique aesthetic—while subtly weaving in moments of my relationship and the activities we enjoy together.
Filmed on a Sony A7IV with a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 lens at 24 FPS, the video benefits from varied ISO settings to best capture each scene’s natural ambiance. For color grading, I used CinePrint16 in DaVinci Resolve to achieve a nostalgic, filmic look reminiscent of Wes Anderson’s signature style. The short took place over February and March, during a period of softer sunlight that allowed for a more authentic, cinematic feel. The final edit was crafted in Premiere Pro, with careful attention to pacing and emotion. Below, I’ve included still frames from key moments to further evoke the sentiment of the video.
