I Can’t Get a Job

This 60 second short form video is a candid, authentic reflection on the struggles I’ve faced trying to land a job in today’s competitive market—despite graduating from the #1 Advertising School in the country. In the video, I openly discuss my challenges and shortcomings as I attempt to break into the corporate world. I dive deep into where I believe I went wrong, how it has affected my mental state, and the steps I’m taking to overcome these hurdles. The video serves as an honest and relatable message for those who may feel too scared or shy to voice similar frustrations, offering both vulnerability and insight into the realities many face in their career journeys.
I filmed this piece on a Sony A7IV with a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, adjusting ISO settings across clips to capture the best lighting for each scene. A wireless DJI Mic was used to ensure clear, professional quality audio. For color grading, I applied CinePrint16 in DaVinci Resolve to keep the visual style consistent with my broader portfolio. The edit, crafted in Premiere Pro, follows a fast paced rhythm to maintain viewer engagement. I used a strong hook at the beginning, showcasing rejection letters to draw people in, followed by quick cuts, smooth transitions, and sound effects to sustain interest throughout. Music and sound effects were sourced from platforms such as Soundly, Epidemic Sound, Artlist.io, and YouTube. Below, I’ve included still frames from key moments to give further context and emotion to the video’s message.
